Overview

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia is a form of cancer in which the bone marrow overproduces white blood cells that are non-functional. This results in decreased acquired immune system function and reduced production of red blood cells (anemia).

This web page discusses Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, which may have a different mechanism and treatment from other forms of cancer. Please see Cancer Overview for general information that is common to all forms of cancer.

Please see conventional, complementary, and alternative medical treatments for important background information regarding the different types of medical treatments discussed on this page. Naturopathic, Complementary, and Alternative treatments that may be considered include:

Treatment

Conventional Treatments

  • Chemotherapy
  • Blood Transfusions
  • Antibiotics
  • Protective isolation

Naturopathic, Complementary, and Alternative Treatments

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

[LDN_Cancer] reports that the late Dr. Bernard Bihari treated approximately 450 patients with some form of cancer, with a 60% success rate, almost all of who had failed to respond to standard treatments. According to <&LDN&> this includes Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Dr. Weyrich has been trained to use Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). However, Dr. Weyrich has not treated any cases of Lymphocytic Leukemia with LDN.

Please see What is Low Dose Naltrexone? for more information.

Nutritional Medicine

Dr. Bosworth ("Dr. Boz") reports that the Ketogenic Diet is beneficial for many (but not all) forms of cancer, and specifically describes the treatment of CLL using the Ketogenic Diet [Bosworth2018]

Please see Ketogenic Diet for more information.
